Course Description
Welcome to the Bench Press Skills & Progressions training course specifically designed for coaches. This module builds a strong foundation for you and your student-athletes to safely progress through pressing patterns. You’ll learn key cues and best practices to effectively supervise and coach bench press activities within a strength and conditioning setting.Course Outline

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Teach correct posture and setup of the upper body, torso, and lower body before initiating the pressing movement
- In push up positions
- In dumbbell press positions
- In barbell bench press position
- Demonstrate the proper alignment and tracking of elbows, shoulders, and arms when pressing.
- Create solid points of contact to allow for good mechanical leverage when pressing.
- Show proper bar path during the pressing movement for leverage and joint safety.

- Providing you with cues to be an effective strength & conditioning coach.
- Recognizing four key coaching points in regards to good pressing mechanics for upper body strength development.
- Building a foundation for teaching technique to your athletes as they progress through skill progressions designed to develop good pressing patterns
We recommend that you have pre-existing knowledge of bench press skills and progression prior to taking this course. If you do not have preexisting knowledge of bench press skills and progression, please complete our Bench Press Skills and Progression module first.
