Sport-related concussions have become a significant concern across all levels of athletics. In recent years, increased attention has been placed on the risks of returning to play too soon and the potential long-term effects of these injuries. This module focuses on identifying the common causes of concussions and equipping coaches with strategies and protocols to help prevent premature return-to-play decisions.

Before beginning this module, participants should have a basic understanding of athlete safety and injury prevention principles. Coaches are expected to be familiar with their school or organization’s emergency action plan, general return-to-play procedures, and the importance of communicating with athletic trainers, medical professionals, and administrators.
