Course Description

Poultry Meat Production focuses on the management of birds raised for human consumption, including meeting the physiological needs of meat birds and building relationships with the people who care for them. The course will address all aspects pertaining to rearing birds for human consumption, including the role of commercial integrators in both human and animal well-being as well as environmental manipulation to maximize growth, disease management, and regulatory requirements for marketing poultry meat.

Learner Outcomes

After completing this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand the importance of vertical integration and the concept of contract production in commercial poultry meat production.
  • Discuss housing systems and describe techniques to manage nutrition, health, and environmental conditions in these housing systems.
  • Describe marketing techniques and corporate accountability within a vertically integrated poultry company.
