Course Description
General Avian Science introduces you to the history and practice of raising poultry for human food and enjoyment. The course touches on all stages of poultry rearing from breeder management and incubation to caring for growing chicks. You will become familiar with the equipment used in poultry husbandry, biosecurity principles to prevent the spread of disease, bird behavior, and the process of manufacturing feed to meet birds' nutritional needs. Various housing types will also be addressed including commercial and backyard flocks used for egg and meat production.Course Outline
